Dimenisonal
Imaging Comnsultants, Inc. was founded in 1990
by Douglas Tyler. The Corpoiration was founded, in
part, as a means for continuing research into and for
organizing exhibitions of work undertaken by artists and
other image-makers in the new visual media evolving in the
late Twentieth and early Twenty-first Century. Of particular
interest since the Corporation's founding has been
promoiting the exhibition and sale of work produced in the
very new medium of holography, an exceptiopnally powerful
and technologically advanced means of imaging, that allows
the practioner to produce multi-dimensional visual
experiences unlike those accessible through any other
current day technology.
Douglas Tyler is a Professor in the Department of Art
at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and is
widely known for his artistic explorations in the medium of
holography and is among the best known organizers of
holographic exhibitions in the United States. He has
organized major exhibitions throughout the United States in
such varied locations as Wilmington, Delaware, Boise,
Idoaho, Cleveland, Ohio, Baltimore, Maryland, Des Moines,
Iowa and Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina to name a few.
Professor Tyler's own work has appeared in numerous
exhibitions in the United States and in many international
art exhibtions. His work was included in the landmark
exhibition L'Immateriaux at the Centres Georges Pompidou in
Paris, and has appeared in major exhibitions at the Hamburg
Kunsthalle, Hamburg, Center for Posts and
Telecommunications, Beijing and many others. Tyler was the
first recipient of the European Holography Prize, and has
received artists fellowships from the National Endowment for
the Arts, Michigan Council for the Arts and the Shearwater
Foundation among others.
